In 1918 George and Jack McLeay founded their original floor covering and furniture business in Grenfell Street Adelaide - McLeay Brothers.

David McLeay joined his father's business in 1948 and provided expert advice to Adelaide families for 30 years before he branched out in 1978 with his sons Brooke and Mark to start David McLeay carpets.
